A comedy about art, family, and culture – Writing Fragments Home follows the story of a young Filipino artist who must come face to face with his past, his family and his heritage in order to overcome writer’s block and discover his voice. Stuck sleeping on the couch, Jay must finally come face-to-face with the pressures and dreams of his parents while finding the bravery to fight for his voice as a young artist of color in America. Hillbarn is proud to premiere this new play from Bay Area favorite, Jeffrey Lo.

Jen (she/her) joins Hillbarn Theatre for the first time. Previously, she was choreographer for Urinetown and onstage in Comedy of Errors (Adriana) and in A Little Night Music (Desirée). Other appearances include King Lear (Reagan), The Play That Goes Wrong (Annie), Men on Boats (O.G.) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Esmeralda) which earned her a TBA nomination. Jepoy (he/him) is a Software Solutions Engineer and active in the San Francisco Bay Area theatre scene as an Actor, Director, Producer, and Stage Manager with various theatre companies. Jamiel (he/him) is of Palestinian, Chamoru, and Filipino descent from Vallejo, CA. He holds a B.A in Film/Theatre from California State University, Long Beach, and graduated from Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. He works as an Arts in Corrections facilitator for Red Ladder Theatre. Notable Performances include The Gods of Comedy (The Pear Theatre), Clue (SF Playhouse) and currently has a film released on TUBI called Agent of Solitude.
Jomar (he/him) was most recently seen playing Dr. Wedgecroft in Waste at Marin Theater. ACT credits include Max in Big Data, Playwright/Bobby in Vietgone and Vietgone 2: Poor Yella Rednecks, Tom in The Headlands, and Fortunado in Monstress. SF Playhouse credits include Tom in The Glass Menagerie, Harry Chin in The Paper Dreams of Harry Chin, Gordon Hirabayashi in Hold These Truths (Capital Stage co-production) and Mark in Art. Cal Shakes credits include Edmund in an adaptation of King Lear by Marcus Gardley, Banquo in Macbeth, Jacques in As You Like It. Other credits: Gary in Titus: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, George in The Language Archive (TheatreWorks), Quang in Vietgone (Capital Stage Company). Jomar is a recipient of multiple Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards, and was Lunt-Fontanne Fellow in 2023. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree, and is also a board member, at A.C.T.
Brigitte (she/hers) is a native Bay Area actress and theatre maker. When Brigitte is not on the stage she is taking your calls managing the Hillbarn Box office. Brigitte Is very excited to be back performing on the Hillbarn stage with such an incredible wealth of bay area talent. Some past roles include Ensemble/swing in Kinky Boots (ROLT), Kelly Manning in The Mad Ones & Heather Chandler in Heathers (PSP), Ali in Mamma Mia (San Jose Stage Co), Poppy in Noises Off (Hillbarn Theatre), Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods (LASC).
