Great actors tell stories with their whole bodies. Movement I is more than a dance class. This class helps young artists develop the coordination, rhythm, body awareness, and movement technique they need to make clear and intentional physical choices onstage.

Through movement exercises, choreography, music, and physical storytelling, students learn to use posture, gesture, facial expression, space, energy, and movement to communicate character and emotion. They’ll also learn musical theater dance basics and vocabulary, practice learning and retaining choreography, moving safely as an ensemble, and staying physically engaged throughout a performance. The semester culminates in a family sharing (Fall) or Conservatory Showcase (Spring).
