Letter from Adrienne

Being in high school has always been a battlefield. Whether it’s surviving the perpetual social warfare, or recovering from a pandemic and returning to in-person school after spending 2 years at a screen, the struggles of high school are timeless. And while there have always been the popular kids who have ruled the school, we can all be grateful we never had the Heathers.

Heathers The Musical (based on the 1989 movie of the same name), is the anecdote to high school drama that gives you permission to laugh and cry while re-evalutating all of the serious issues facing these students. Originally written in the 80’s, the then absurd themes sadly resonate all too well with the students of today.
This cast tackles the difficult material and subject matter that this show introduces with grace and courage. Through the lens of comedy and absurdity, this musical puts a magnifying glass on the cracks of our society and the damage that it can cause. From unwanted sexual attention to attempted suicide, to gun violence, Heathers the Musical forces us to face the tremendous obstacles, challenges, and variables that face students today. By highlighting the absurdity and 1980’s camp that Heathers is built upon, the gravity of the issues that this show tackles is brought to light.

While giggling at the quintessential 80’s nostalgia; scrunchies, teased hair, acid wash, and legwarmers, make as much noise as you can for our incredible Teen Company in Heathers the Musical!
Sit back, grab a slurpee and some corn nuts (BQ obviously), and may the croquet match begin!
