In My Opinion

By Alan Hafter

Baskerville by Ken Ludwig, is based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s, The Hound of the Baskervilles. This comedy-mystery play is pure theatrical delight from start to finish.

Comedic genius Ken Ludwig transforms Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic, The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure. Sherlock Holmes is on the case. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir.

As Holmes begins his search for clues, he and Watson meet with dozens of characters in locations such as crowded railway stations, foggy London streets, forbidding English moors and one gloomy mansion. There are clues galore, plenty of dead ends and a sizable puzzle to solve to ferret out the truth. But know it is all in good fun.

It is a sophisticated comedy which I feel is appropriate for audiences of age thirteen or older. Audiences will certainly appreciate the thirty-six roles three members of the cast portray.

I rate it PG-13.
