Here we are, opening week of Noises Off! I had not thought much about this show until last year when I was selecting plays for the current season. I decided what better way to bring in the fall season than with a show full of laughter. There is a wonderful sense of limitless joy when we laugh…the world seems to melt away. These are the moments I love most in the theatre.
Director Jeffrey Lo, cast and production team have put together one healthy dose of laughter for you, and I hope each of you will join us and forget the world outside, if only for a few hours, and remember that even in the midst of mayhem, humor is never far away. For those of you who have seen this show, you know you are in for a treat…and, not just the sardines. To those who have yet to see this masterful work, this fast-paced train will leave you in stitches.
Called “the funniest farce ever written,” Noises Off presents a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing On. Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.
As some of you know West Side Story sold out quickly, so don’t wait. Some of the performances are already filling up. I cannot wait to share in this night of hilarity with you all!
See you at the show.
